Where are you from + what have you been up to?
I'm Bosse from Germany. I did an apprenticeship in gardening and after finishing i worked for 3 years as a gardener. Then I did some studies in landscape architecture but as I couldn't find enough satisfaction and meaning for the environment and myself I wanted to get back to the roots, plants and dirty hands. So I worked on an organic vegetable farm in Germany for one year. I really liked the production of good food and wanted to continue working that way. As I wanted to visit new Zealand for a long time already and didn't know how to spend the winter I came here in late November 2017.
What brought you to Roebuck Farm?
While planing my visit to New Zealand i was certain, that I also wanted to spent my time here learning more about sustainable and organic farming and agriculture and how I could make a living from it.
One of the people I found on the Internet/YouTube was Curtis Stone and since he was at Roebuck Farm I noticed Jodi. I really liked what I could see on the Videos, his Website and his Interviews/Podcasts so I flicked him a message about me and my intentions.
What has been most valuable during your stay here?
Jodi does an exceptional job at handling his sheep, his beds, plants and life in general.
I'm really inspired by the way of living and farming and I'm looking forward to spending the next months here.
Next possible steps
I'm looking forward to heading back to Germany at the end of 2018/early 2019 and I will look for a small piece of land to start a small market garden and figure out the next steps to continue a self sustained life.
