Approaches we are using in the new greenhouse

We tour our new greenhouse which has been12 months in the making.

It is a 400m² high-wind Redpath design. We have planned 20 beds that are 15.5 m long. After opening our subsoil we have composted and planted summer crops: cherry tomatoes, peppers, carrots, zucchini, lettuce, beetroot, bush beans, and pole beans. They have drip irrigation underneath the weed mat with four lines and a valve on each bed all connected to the header pipe which has a main valve controlling everything.

12 months ago this area was pasture with high weed pressure. For this reason and for the first time ever we have chosen to use weed mat and are finding it to be a big timesaver.

It’s the last day of 2023, the previous week has been very wet with 100% humidity. We are loving working indoors as we can be productive regardless of the weather.
